But with popular attractions like the Great Barrier reef and the Daintree Rainforest to choose from, Brisbane can fall under the radar. Despite this overlook, it is a gateway to some of the most incredible attractions in Australia.

  • Moreton Island

    Moreton Island is the third largest sand island in the world is nestled just off the coast of Brisbane. Chock-full with sapphire lakes and lagoons, incredible wildlife, and towering sand dunes. Discover the underwater paradise as you snorkel in the coral shores, swimming with tropical fish, turtles, and dolphins. Trek along the many walking trails and immerse yourself in the lush rainforest to discover the hidden swimming spots throughout the island. Or get your heart racing as you speed around in a 4WD on the 420kms of area suitable for a 4WD adventure.

  • Brown Lake, North Stradbroke Island

    Don’t let the name throw you off! Brown Lake is a picturesque freshwater, with clear brown waters surrounded by pure white sand. The brown colour comes from the leaves of the surrounding Paperbarks and Tea-trees. The leaves fall into the water, turning it a rich brown colour that has been likened to tea. It is one of the most culturally significant lakes in the area for the Aboriginal people. So, take some time to dip in the refreshing waters and learn about its rich history.

  • Glass House Mountains

    Just a short drive from the city lies the spectacular peaks of the Glass House Mountains. They are ancient volcanic plugs, estimated to be around 25 million years old. Hike, drive, or even horse ride through this dreamland, stopping off along the way to check out the many lookouts scattered within.

  • Mt Coot-tha

    Both a mountain and a suburb within Brisbane, the towering Mt Coot-tha offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Brisbane City. Hike up to the top, Bike around the trails, or pack a picnic for a lunch within the bushland. Sitting at the bottom of the mountain lies the Brisbane Botanic Gardens. Enjoy the cactus garden, bamboo forest, and Japanese garden on your way back to the city.

  • Cylinder Beach, North Stradbroke Island

    Set off for a day full of sun, surf, and swimming. This hidden beach is between Cylinder and Home Beach Headlands. Perfect for a day with your partner or posse relaxing on the pretty sands and taking in the views.

  • Epicurious Garden, South Bank

    If you’re an avid veggie patch grower back home, visiting the Epicurious Garden is a must do attraction. Nestled along the River Quay, everything in the garden is edible, with a vast range of veggies, fruits, and herbs to choose from. A great bonus is visitors are encouraged to pick samples as you wander the garden, letting you grab handles of flowers or foods for your next salad.
