Experience the Wheel of Brisbane

The Brisbane Wheel is an iconic landmark that casts a picturesque silhouette against the city’s busy skyline. Set on the popular South Bank part of the city, the wheel is one of the best ways to soak up 360-degree views of the city and its surroundings.

Measuring around 60 metres in height, each separate gondola carries up to 8 people, giving you the chance to experience the city from a different perspective with family and friends. The Wheel of Brisbane is open during the day, where you can spot all the major sights in the city, and at night, when you can take an evening ride with dinner for a special kind of experience.

The Design of the Wheel of Brisbane

The wheel’s designer, Ronald Bussink, and his company, Wheels of Excellence, are the global market leaders in the wheel-making industry and have conceptualised and created some of the most famous observation wheels in the world, including ones in Kuala Lumpur, Paris, and Niagara Falls.

Though each gondola holds up to 8 people and 600kgs in weight, it must always be balanced.

Key Information for Visitors

Visitors that board the wheel are in for a treat. Each and every gondola boasts an in-built audio system that offers commentary on the history and landmarks of the city, including the Botanical Gardens, Goodwill Bridge, and Mount Coot-tha.

There are a number of VIP gondolas if you want to have an extra special experience. These hold up to 4 adults and are great for special occasions.

As well as personal celebrations, the wheel hosts events on national days too, including Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, and other notable dates throughout the year. It’s also the perfect place to watch events unfold on New Year’s Eve and during Brisbane’s Riverfire Festival

Visitors are able to hop on board and experience the sights during the day, while at night there is a whole other experience to be had, including on-boarding gourmet dining and wine tasting. At the base of the wheel, you can find a Sirromet Lounge, which is a great place to hold a function or an event.

Brisbane has so many fun things to see and do, and the wheel is definitely up there on the list of must-dos. It’s the perfect way to get a taste of the city from a unique perspective, and experience some of the iconic landmarks from up high.
